Dance Assembly 2025
Dance Assembly was a one-day conference created to equip, connect, and inspire the dance community in Singapore — a gathering where movement became a language of worship and unity in Christ.
More than 20 churches came together, representing a beautiful diversity of backgrounds and generations, yet moving as one body to glorify God through dance. One of our deepest desires was to see families worship together, so we opened a special Kids’ Worship Dance class — a joyful space where children learned to express their love for God through movement while their mothers were at the adult dance classes. Seeing parents and children worship later during the worship segment was a powerful picture of generational faith and shared devotion.
Beyond technique and choreography, the day was filled with moments of deep reflection and inspiration. Our guest teacher from Taiwan, Miss Chen Qiu Yin, shared her heartfelt testimony — how God shaped her journey in dance and called her to serve Him through the arts. Her story reminded us that dance is more than an art form; it’s a calling and a ministry.
The conference culminated in a vibrant showcase featuring dance ministries from 3:16 Church, Church of Our Saviour, Paya Lebar Methodist Church, our Engage Worship Class participants, the children’s class, and our very own Thread members. Each performance was an offering of praise — a tapestry of movement, music, and faith woven together to honour and celebrate God.
We were also deeply honoured to have The Encounter worship team close the event by leading us into a powerful and uplifting time of worship. It was a beautiful finale — hearts lifted, hands raised, and every dancer reminded once more of why we move: to glorify the One who first moved in us.
Dance Assembly was more than an event; it was a glimpse of heaven’s unity on earth — where every step, rhythm, and heartbeat echoed one truth: we dance because He is worthy.
Thread is especially thankful to our sponsors, Paya Lebar Methodist Church, Ms Mary Loh, Ms Ina Ng and Church of Our Saviour for their generous support in this event.

Fully Alive!
Choreographed by: Lesley Marie Kong and Jessie Low
Presented by: The participants and teachers in our kid’s class.
This dance is an expression of being fully alive for God—a celebration of the life, joy, and love He pours into us. Through His grace, we are awakened to live with purpose, passion, and devotion. The children are embracing this truth with open hearts, letting it flow through every movement as they dance out their love for Him. It’s a reflection of their desire to live and love like Jesus—to grow in His likeness and shine His light in all they do.
Come Thou Fount
Choreographed by: Chan Hsin Yee
Presented by: Paya Pebar Methodist Church Dance Ministry
Inspired by a modern spin on a traditional hymn, this piece is a collection of reflections from the dance ministry members of Paya Lebar Methodist Church (PLMC) of seasons where they have experienced God’s help. Every moment of struggle, grief, worry, and disobedience is an opportunity to experience God’s grace afresh, bringing us deeper into His heart and giving us a new song to praise His name.
Better Thing
Choreographed by: Chan Hsin Yee
Presented by: Church of Our Saviour Dance Ministry
Better Thing is a meditation on the story of Mary and Martha in the book of Luke, specifically when Jesus says “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” The dance captures our struggle to rest and abide in God when we are worried and upset about many things, and Jesus’ grace and patience in lifting us up and out of ourselves to recognise that He is the better thing.
Upon Grace
Choreographed by: Elaine Chan
Presented by: Dancers from Engage Worship Dance Class, who also contributed to the choreographic ideas!
God’s grace isn’t just undeserved favour… it‘s a powerful and practical help we all need as we journey through life. Let us turn our hearts to Him who loves and strengthens us each day.
Step into the Fight
Choreographed by: Lesley Marie Kong and Ivy Talaban Aw
Presented by: Thread Dance Team
Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Though the title of the song says Step into the fight, the piece actually centers on being still with God — a powerful spiritual journey from fear to faith, portraying the inner battle of surrender and trust in divine intervention.
The choreography moves in frantic, disjointed motions full of tension — running, hiding, resisting — representing the human instinct to fight or flee, while contrasting stillness against chaos to highlight the verse’s call to stop striving and trust; the final moment is complete stillness, hearts lifted, reflecting the faith that “The Lord will fight for you,” leaving a sense of peace, strength, and surrender.
Who Else
Choreographed by: Ian Ng
Presented by: See His Glory from 3:16 Church
This piece is a reminder for us to magnify the Lord. Regardless of where we are and what we have been through - God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is worthy! Praise the Lord!
