Threadx is a commitment to the journey, not the destination.

We value unity, camaraderie, and a continual growth mindset.

Threadx is an exciting and uplifting initiative by Thread Dance Centre, where our passionate trainers join forces with local dance ministries for a transformative 12-session journey. This program embodies our mission: to connect, nurture, and empower Christian dancers in a way that strengthens both their artistry and their faith.

Over 12 weeks, our trainers will work closely with ministry leaders and dancers, responding to their unique needs while guiding them through a creative and spirit-filled process of developing choreography.

At the heart of Threadx is a commitment to the journey, not just the destination. We value unity, camaraderie, and a continual growth mindset. More than a chance to refine technique, this experience is a powerful reminder that worship is about drawing closer to God and one another, elevating our hearts and our movements in praise.

We are glad to have been able to embark on this journey and partner with Thread over 12 weeks, creating a piece that aligns deeply within our hearts.

Paya Lebar Methodist Church Dance Ministry used to be one heavily event based where we only gathered for event based performances in the church. However, when the burden to start a Dance Ministry was placed on our hearts, Thread willingly took on the task to partner alongside us to build up this ministry.

Honest conversations

Hsinyee was intentional in actively listening to our stories and stuggles, opening up our hearts to create a safe space for us to followship and share with each other. This was translated beautifully into a piece that showcased our individual stories, while also pushing our creative boundries as dancers.

Expectations

Dance aside, Hsin yee took her time to explain to us what a Dance Ministry could potentially look like. During the third session, she sat us down gathered our input on how we would like to minister to our audiences. We were the ones providing the answers, rather than being directed. This created a sense of belongingness within us where we took charge of our own ministry to God.

This project has sparked a fire that God's ministry is not limited. The gifts of God that we have been so blessed with, we extend it back to God to reach out to those around us. Even as Paya Lebar Methodist Church continues to build up this Dance Ministry, we thank Thread for helping us begin this journey, building up a safe and close knitted community.

“We were very blessed to partner with Thread Dance Centre. Across eight weeks, Hsin Yee and Trixie sparked a culture shift within Church of Our Saviour’s dance ministry through honest conversations and unhurried time to break down barriers.

Honest conversations

We started the project by sharing: What do we need in this season? What is something that needs to change? The Thread team listened and used the inputs to create a piece that deeply ministered to us - individually as dancers and collectively as a team.

Unhurried time

Often, dance teams rush into ‘getting things done’ when preparing for a showcase. Anxiety takes centre stage. Instead of rushing through practices, we took some time at the beginning of each practice to centre down and sit at Jesus' feet. This approach reframed how we run dance practices and prioritised connecting with God.

Breaking down barriers

During the first week, we explored partner work. It felt very uncomfortable at first. Even though we were part of a team, we were all used to expressing ourselves individually. How do we learn to lead - and be led? Under Hsin Yee’s direction, we explored a new dynamic: one partner took on the role of a leader, while the other trusted and followed. This process helped to break down psychological barriers and brought us closer as a team.

This project has reignited our passion for ministering through dance, and we are grateful to Thread for walking alongside us in this season of rebuilding.”
